Visit something new: Grass

In my short life, I have been travalling a lot for someone my age. I've visited some very big city (London, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin...) and some small towns not everyone know of. Because I live in Europe, I have not visited anything outside the beautiful continent. I'm planning something though. But last year one of the things I did was Saint-Tropez (actually Port-Grimaud, but very close to Saint-Tropez). While I was enjoying the sun, my dad came up with the idea of going to Grasse: the city of fragrances! You probably won't know that I love perfume so that I was quite excited. One of the reasons: not so long before that day, I had a speaking exercise for French about Perfume. (I talked for 12 minutes and had good grades in case you were wondering) I liked it a lot because the subject actually interessed me. Right now, not even a year later, I have a big box full of perfume samples...

But anyway, we were going to Grass. It's about 1 hour driving from Saint-Tropez and my little step sister actually got a little bit annoyed in the car and a bit scared because we almost had an accident. It was worth the ride though. Grass is one of the most beautiful places I've seen. The houses all have a nice orange-yellow colour which is very nice in the summer. Grass also has 3 big perfume houses: Molinard, Fragonard and Galimard. In the morning we visited Molinard, mostly because it was the first one we saw and it was a little too hot inside our car. We could have visited Fragonard (which is the biggest one) or Galimard (the one who mostly works with the scent of coffie) as well.

Molinard
Once we got in the perfumerie, they asked wether we wanted a tour or not. I think it was for free but I'm not sure. We got a tour in French (as the majority of the group choose French) but we got an English guide as well (to read so we could understand what our actual guide said). Because I have French for about 6 years now, I understood most of it, but it came in handy. After the tour we heard you could create your own perfume. A simple session of a half hour cost 35 euro and a more extensive session (that was about 1h to 1h30) cost around 50 euro. We chose the first option, because we aren't professionals when it comes to perfumes and putting scents together. And too be honest, I'm glad we didn't choose the second one. The perfume I created, I still use sometimes, it smells nice and lasts pretty long.

When we left Molinard we went to the centrum of the city (not so far) and ate a savory pancake, something they have a lot in France and that I definatly recommend to give a try. After that we wandered around in the city where we found local stores (like you find a lot in France) and a place you could view the houses in Grass. There were also chairs you could lay in and relax while smelling some perfume that came out if weird sprayers once in a while. I loved it!

This is not beauty related at all, but I wanted to give it a go because I have some good memories about that vacation and the trip to Grass.

Lots Of Love,
Me
