Benefit- Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! Review

I know this came out a long time ago, but it's part of my new years resolution: finding the perfect foundation. (click the link to find out more) I knew a lot of people absolutly loved that foundation, but because Benefit isn't that easy to get your hands on where I live, I never tried it. Recently, I got to be somewhere and when I found out they sell Benefit quite close to it, I ran into the store and bought their foundation. It is high end and in America the price is quite good ($36), in Britain it costs £25.50 (= $42) and in the rest of Europe, you pay around €34 (=$46,5), which gets a little more expensive, but it is affordable.

When I went to the counter, they lady said the best shade for my skin would be the Ivory one (I'm pure 4 sure) which surprised me a lot since my skin isn't that light. however, I've worn it for a couple of days and it really is the colour that matches me. I do have to say that when it's winter time my face is pale in no time and people always think I am sick because 'I look so pale', so I wouldn't say their colours aren't for people who need a light shade. What I like as well, is that it has darker colours as well.

Benefits of this products are that it containes oxygen which makes it really light and it doesn't fill your pores with crap. I must admit that I've been using the porefessional underneath my make up because I'm used to wear that. But when I tested it out for the first time, I didn't and my pores were just fine and clean (as I want them to be). What else does it promis? (I litteraly got this of my packaging): it helps to boost cellular respiration for a 'plumping up' effect, helps to protect against environmental stresses and contains vitamin C&E derivatives known to prevent sighs of aging. Also it has SPF 25 and PA +++ (good for your skin, if you want to know more about it, you can google it) which made me smile.

When you check on the site, it says that the coverage is light to medium and at first I was a little scared about it, but when I putted it on, I found out I shouldn't have. It gives you a nice coverage that looks really natural and feels like you have nothing on. It isn't the full on coverage and blemishes won't be completly gone when you put it on for the first time, but it's buildable which makes it possible to cover them up nicely. If you do have a lot of break outs, you may need a bit more coverage than this foundation. The redness will be reduced though. Also, you will only need one pump to do your entire face, which I love (and I think you do as well).

Onto oilyness and that kind of stuff. I have a dry skin and it doesn't dehydrate my skin, but on those oily spots, it doesn't make your skin more oily. So I would say, it leaves your skin the way it was before. But again I have been wearing a primer underneath it, and that may cause some differences, although I doubt that since it is oil-free.

For the way I have been applying it: I kind of just used my fingertips. With a brush, I feel like I have more coverage and you feel the foundation a bit more on your skin. And with the beautyblender, I feel like it isn't that much different from applying it with my fingertips, so I'll just do it the lazy way. Just a little side note: wash your hands before you apply your foundation with your fingers, because you never know what you have touched. (Sounds a bit grose)

Something I'm less sure about, is that you have to set it with a powder, which is all good and well, but sometimes I tend to forget that and since I've got dry skin already, I don't like to use powder too much. I have been using my The Body Shop powder and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, which I both love and they don't leave my skin dry. But I think this sucks when you still need to figure out what powder works best for you.

Another thing I don't quite like too much, is that it takes about an hour before I can touch my face and almost no foundation will come off. Since I touch my face quite a lot (sounds a bit funny), this isn't the most comfortable thing.

And finally, let's sum up the pro's and contra's:

Pro:

  • Price in America which isn't too much for a high end product.
  • it feels like you have nothing on and is really nice and light for your skin. It looks natural too!
  • the coverage is buildable and it reduces redness.
  • it doesn't make your skin drier or oilier (oil-free).
  • it has a lot of shades and the colour adapts a bit to your skin after 5 minutes.
  • It lastes the entire day with a powder.
  • It has SPF 25, which is good enough for my skin in the summer.
  • 1 pump for your entire face.
Contra:
  • The price in Europe, which can be $10 higher than in America, but it is high end.
  • you need a powder or it won't stay that long.
  • It comes off in the first hour by just touching your skin a little bit.
  • Not for people who want that full on coverage.
That's it! I love this foundation, even though I have to set it with powder because it have this gorgious brightening, flawless look. So I'll have to say 'well done' to Benefit. I hope you enjoyed this review.

Lots Of Love,
Me
